As a student traveling to Latvia, there are certain
points that you need to know and work on so that your travel to latvia
is smooth without any complaints or hindrance:
- Visa:
If you are Non-EU or Non-European Economic
zone citizen then - if studyabroad.itgo.com is arranging for
you visas to some country where there is embassy of Latvia. Upon
submission of your passport, studyabraod.ito.com would have obtained
your visa invitation and in due course stamped your passport with the
visa. The visa that you receive is an entry-exit visa, which is valid
for duration of 3 months. After reaching the country, you have to
apply for the "Board permit" of Latvia. Which can be obtained in 20-30
days. After getting the "Board Permit" you can enter Latvia. Upon your
arrival in Latvia you have to submit Passport and other documents
required to the Local Representive in Latvia, who will help you to get
you registered in Local registration office.
If you are an EU or European European Economic zone then you
can come to Latvia without any "Board permit" and upon your arrival in
Latvia you have to submit Passport and other documents required to the
Local Representive in Latvia, who will help you to get you registered
in Local registration office.
- Air Tickets:
As a matter of logistics all first year students are strongly
advised to complete their travel documentations only from the
authorized travel agent. This is to ensure that all travel
documentation is in complete order.
- Eligibility Certificate:
For those students who are from India, according to the Medical
council of India have to obtain an eligibility certificate before they
join Foreign Medical Institution for Medical education. For further
information

- ECR (Emigration check required):
Majority of the students proceeding to Latvia would need to suspend
their ECR. The authorized travel agent would do this for you. Please
note that failure to suspend the same would mean that the student
would be unable to fly abroad. This would result in cancellation of
the air ticket at the last moment and put the student and the parents
in unwarranted trouble.
